Welcome to Lawrence and Mandy's
Holiday Cruise to Barbados
7th-21st November 2008
On board P&O's Ventura
This was our holiday of a lifetime. We really enjoyed ourselves as I think the photos show that.
The flight over was the biggest strain 8 hours or so, but the seats were fine and videos to watch so the flight went pretty quickly. When we landed we were taken directly from the plane to coaches which went directly to the port, our first glimpse of the Ventura made everyone on the bus buzz with excitement as she looked huge, we then stood in line in a converted shed in the heat and humidity to get our boarding passes which for the duration of the cruise worked as our passport and credit card ( no actual money is used on board ship).
Finally we boarded and we were both very excited as we had booked a suite which was located at the rear of the ship, once we had found the cabin ( after walking the complete length of the ship in the wrong direction) we walked in and were not disappointed at all, the suite was quite spacious, the bathroom had a large whirly tub and a shower, we used to put lots of bath foam in the tub and turn on the whirlpool and it made loads of bubbles as you can also see in the photos.
The 7th November 2008, this was at the end of the rainy season and two weeks before we arrived they had endured a hurricane which had done quite a lot of damage to their coastlines, the inlet cove where some of "pirates of the Caribbean" had been filmed had been hit and most of the props which the film company had left behind had been wrecked.
The Cruise log gives all the information from the journey around the islands.
